This variable speed inverter steel strip unwinding machine is designed for stamping production lines, providing stable material feeding for automated manufacturing processes.
Primary Applications
Factories utilize large rolls of metal strips (cold rolled steel, galvanized sheet, stainless steel, aluminum coil, etc.) weighing several tons each. These heavy coils cannot be fed directly into stamping presses, leveling machines, or shearing machines.
This equipment, known as an uncoiler (also called coil decoiler/material reel stand), performs three core functions:
- Firmly clamp and support heavy metal coils
- Release coils smoothly at adjustable constant speeds to feed subsequent processing machines
- Prevent coil deviation, loose unwinding, and collapsing to provide stable raw material for automated production lines

Component Functions
Spindle
The thick black rotating shaft in the center that inserts into the hollow inner hole of metal coils. Internal mechanical/hydraulic structure expands outward to tightly hold the coil inner wall, preventing slipping or shifting during rotation.
Support Tile (Carrying Roll)
Yellow supporting brackets under the spindle that bear the bottom weight of the coil to share load, making coil rotation smoother. Essential for thick and heavy metal coils.
Backrest Wheel (Thicken)
Thickened yellow circular baffle at the rear of the coil that prevents backward sliding and running off track during high-speed unwinding. Made of reinforced thick steel plate for reliable positioning.
Inverter Electric Box
Yellow control cabinet featuring red emergency stop button and variable frequency speed regulation. Controls spindle forward/reverse rotation, start/stop functions, and enables synchronous linkage with leveling machines and stamping presses.
Working Process
- Coil Loading: Use crane to hoist metal coil onto spindle. Expand spindle to lock coil inner hole while support tiles hold coil weight and backrest wheel prevents backward sliding.
- Threading Material: Pull outer end of metal strip, lay it on Type A limiting iron, then feed into next straightener or stamping press.
- Automatic Unwinding: Turn on inverter control box; driving motor rotates spindle to release metal strip forward at constant speed.
- Synchronous Speed Matching: Uncoiler automatically accelerates/decelerates following downstream press operation.
- Safety Emergency Stop: Press red emergency stop button immediately for any strip jamming or failure incidents.
